Senate Summons IGP Over Kidnappings

The Senate on Thursday heard that over 3,000 Nigerians are currently held captivity by dare-devil kidnappers in parts of the northern states. The startling revelation forced the upper chamber to summon the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, to appear before it next week. Adamu is required to brief the Senate on the increasing spate of kidnapping and banditry in parts of the country and measures by the police to stem the tide. The invitation of the IGP followed the adoption a prayer by Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, on the need for Adamu to brief the Senate on the increasing spate of kidnapping in the country. The lawmakers believed that the IGP was in a position to throw light on general insecurity in Nigeria.

Buhari To Dissolve Cabinet May 22 – Lai Mohammed

President Muhammadu Buhari will dissolve his cabinet few days to the end of the administration, Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed has said. He said that a valedictory session with members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) has been scheduled for May 22nd after which the cabinet will be dissolved ahead of his inauguration. Buhari will be sworn-in on 29th May to begin another four year term in office. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo presided over the meeting in the absence of President Buhari, who was in Maiduguri today to commission some developmental project eats.

Newlyweds Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have this afternoon arrived back at Kensington Palace two days after they tied the knot. The pair were spotted in a car wearing matching sunglasses driving into the royal residence in west London as they begin their married life together. The new husband and wife looked relaxed with Meghan flashing a smile as they headed back to their home in Nottingham Cottage. The couple were last seen driving to the reception on Saturday in the grounds of Windsor Castle in a Jaguar E-Type.

SGF Boss Mustapha launches N64m Website to “bring governance to the people”

Secretary to the Government of the Federation  Boss Mustapha  has launched a new website which he said aims to “bring governance to the people,”  The Cable reports. He revealed that the website, for which the Federal Government had allocated N65 million in 2017, had cost N64 million. The N64 million included the cost of procuring laptops, training & consultancy fees, he added. It also included the training of 50 officers who will facilitate timely updates and ensure “very robust content management system, procurement of laptops as well as consultancy services.” He said: There was a contract in 2017. The figure in public domain. It is about N64m including procurement of laptops, training, consultancy services. The website will “bring governance to the people,” he continued, and “add value” with its provision of information.

Lady Dies After Taking ‘Spiritual’ Concoction In Lagos, Prophet Arrested [Photo]

The Lagos State Police Command has  arrested  a prophet, Micheal Dominic, for allegedly administering concoction to a lady who visited him for spiritual healing in company with her boyfriend at the Ajangbadi area of Lagos. The victim, Rahamat Audu, was said to have died after taking the concoction. Dominic, who heads the Celestial Church of Christ, Jesusegun parish, Santana bus stop, Ajangbadi, was paraded by the police on Monday alongside the deceased’s boyfriend, Ifeanyi Enyinna, for alleged conspiracy and murder. It was gathered that 25-year-old Rahamat lived with her boyfriend on Lekan Street, Shibiri. According to the boyfriend, the deceased had on Thursday complained of having a cough and went to the church to seek a spiritual solution. There, she was allegedly given the concoction which reportedly made her feel better for a while before her condition got worse. Senator Omo-Agege Drags Saraki And The National Assembly To Court Over Mace Theft Probe

The lawmaker representing the Delta Central Senatorial District, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has dragged the National Assembly to court over its investigation into the invasion and mace snatching at the Senate chamber on April 18, 2018. The senator made this known to our correspondent on Monday. He said the Clerk to the National Assembly, Mohammed Sani-Omolori; President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki; and the Chairman of the joint Senate and House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the attack, Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah, had been served with the notice of the originating summons. Others joined in the suit, according to Omo-Agege, are the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris; Director-General, Department of State Services, Lawal Daura; and Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN).
